Prism Obsidian Black Resin with Polished Black Appointments Jumbo Ballpoint Pen

As an avid pen collector and Cross aficionado, I purchased an A. T. Cross Prism “jumbo” ballpoint as soon as I saw the release. I really wanted to love it, and, after living with the pen’s good and bad traits for a bit, I’m mostly satisfied. I gave it a 4-star overall rating. The design, materials and production quality are up to Cross’ standards and customer expectations, and the cost is reasonable.

Interestingly, I had recently purchased several 3-D printed multipurpose plastic pens which can accept a wide range of international “standard” refills, so I could accept the Prism “concept”, even though it is a radical departure from the widely-recognized Cross Century style. Cross Prism employs a simple, traditional, screw-on cap and barrel design with updated aspects such as a non-roll body and perforated surface, and acceptance of a variety of “Selectip”-style refills. In use, that surface treatment, or something similar, would help if it was applied to the grip which is a bit too slick for comfort, particularly with a wide-body pen.
